Patti first started her painting journey way back before Utah ever heard of
Robert Redford’s Sundance Institute, in Park City, UT. In fact, the actor Robert
Redford was just getting started
in the movie business when she began her voyage. Patti attended various schools
in and around the Provo and Orem areas of Utah. In the drawings and sketches that Patti
would depict, many seemed to revolve around shorebirds. Now, to see a shore bird,
such as a seagull, wouldn’t exactly be front page news in
The Salt Lake Tribune.......................and without a doubt, Utah is a beautiful state with
its majestic mountains, green valleys and historical places just to name a few
significant points. However, one doesn’t
exactly think of Utah as a tropical state with beautiful palm trees, Pelicans,
Flamingos and Herons.
Perhaps because she was born in northern California, lived in the Stockton area and later had attended college in San Diego, Patti enjoyed being around the ocean and the ambiance that it offers. By the time she moved to Florida in the late 1980’s her color pallet was full of blissful colors such as Fuchsia Pinks, Sunshine Yellows, Calypso Blues and Vivid Lime Greens. Having those colors she was determined to paint tropical murals on walls and outside of buildings. When the opportunity arrived to paint on furniture to give it that “seashore” sentiment, it was full speed ahead and the ideas just flowed. Of course, spending vacations in Jamaica didn’t impair the tropical spirit any.
Whether one refers to the paintings as seashore, nautical, ocean or tropical, Patti expresses the sentiment on wood with the products noted on this web site. If you have a question or an idea about a painting, please contact her via the e-mail link below.
